ABOUT SAM KIMBALL
Artist Statement
I was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1959 to parents of English-American descent.
My painting career began when I was in my early thirties.
I believe a big part of creativity is openness. Being open to new discoveries and pathways, I’m more likely to evolve as an artist. While painting, I’m open to veering off from any original intentions. This keeps the process fresh. The end result of this openness can appear to be many different styles, within my “style.”
I paint in oils and acrylics. Landscapes and abstracts are my primary focus, and they do influence each other. I strive for each piece I create to be an invitation to something or somewhere.
